Sanitary Pad Drive in association with Sri Venkateshwara College.

The Extension Society of Sri Venkateswara College conducted a Menstrual Pad Distribution Drive in collaboration with the Aldaa Foundation at Sanjay Camp. The aim of the drive was to distribute menstrual pads to the underprivileged girls and women in the area.

Aldaa Foundation is a non-government organization that primarily focuses on areas of women hygiene and women empowerment in rural areas of India. Their mission is to clean up roads, parks & all common areas and to develop a cleaner and healthier lifestyle across India. Their objectives include providing awareness about Garbage management to keep our cities clean & women’s health care

The drive was conducted in a centralised location in the slum area. It began at 11a.m., and as the day progressed, a large number of girls and women started arriving at the location. They were greeted by the volunteers who conducted a short yet informative awareness session to educate them about menstrual hygiene, the importance of using sanitary pads and how to use them correctly. Once the awareness session was completed, the women and girls were given packs of sanitary pads, and the volunteers were available to answer questions, if any. Packets of biscuits were also distributed to the kids of Sanjay camp.

The drive was very well received by the residents of the slum area, with over (no of people who came) girls and women receiving packs of sanitary pads .It helped to address an essential need of underprivileged females in Sanjay Camp and served as a reminder of the importance of working towards menstrual hygiene awareness and equality in access to menstrual products.
